The reinforcement of the soils is a building technique that allows the creation of strongly inclined embankments, up to verticals, thanks to the inclusion in the ground of reinforcements that increase cut strength. The use of reinforced soil as retaining wall, containment or as a barrier (noise reduction, rockfall protection etc…) is widespread in many areas, from infrastructure to hydrogeological defense and in the building field. With the partnership of MACCAFERRI, EDIL LECA offers Macwall^® to the market, a wall in earth reinforced with concrete facing blocks with split surface (splitted). The Macwall^® system is frequently chosen for architects compared to other more traditional ones like reinforced concrete. The wall facing in Macwall^® reinforced soils consists in splitted (split) water-repellent and colored concrete blocks to be left at sight, manufactured by Edil Leca Srl, a leading company in the production of vibro-compressed concrete units. The reinforcement however consists in one of the most technically advanced geosynthetics on the market, the Paragrid^® geogrid, produced by Linear Composites Ltd, a company of MACCAFERRI Group, world leader in the production of solutions applied to geotechnics.
